Tammy Donnelly Wins Women’s 10,000 in Division II Meet
Tammy Donnelly of Indiana University, Pa. won the women’s 10,000 meters with a time of 33:44.01 on the first day of competition in the four-day NCAA Division II track and field championships at Cal State Los Angeles.
Donnelly easily outdistanced Debbie Myra of Portland State, who was second in 34:25.47.
Debra Larson of Cal Poly Pomona ended the first four events of the heptathlon with 3,414 points, a Division II first-day record. She has a 124-point lead over teammate Janet Nicholls with the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run to be held today.
The leader of the decathlon after five events is David Marden of Chico State with 3,850 points.
In qualifying for the women’s 400-meter relay, Hampton University set a Division II record with a time of 44.67.
