Going Bananas Over a Nutty Problem

Share

Gregory R. Jackson of Los Angeles loves to eat banana ice cream without nuts all year, but the one source he knows of--Thrifty Drugs--carries the item only occasionally. And he is allergic to nuts. Can you help with this nutty matter before Jackson goes bananas, or will he have to put his search on ice because he’s convinced nobody gives a lick?

Irene McDonald of Culver City has been all over town looking for replacement collars for her husband’s dress shirts (Size 17 or 17 1/2). She would love matching collars, but she’ll take white. Can you help before she (or her husband) gets hot under the collar, or will she have to tell him to keep his shirt on--and his chin up?

Sally Guerrero has had no success in her efforts to locate a lavender toilet seat to match the color of the rest of her bathroom fixtures. Can you help complete Guerrero’s lavender lavatory, or will this be another wasted effort down the drain?

Fay Cheney of Santa Ana, who was looking for a back-view neck mirror, can soon look forward to having one, and she won’t even have to break her neck to do so. (This should be good news for Floy Paxton of Los Angeles, who’s been searching for the same item.) M. J. Grove of Beverly Hills says Brookstone’s carries the item, and their store nearest to Cheney is at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Michael Anders of West Hollywood saw some at the Thrifty store on Western Avenue in Palos Verdes Estates. Mail-order sources include Lillian Vernon, 510 S. Fulton Ave., Mt. Vernon, N.Y. 10550 (from Pat Clancy of Fullerton), and Beauty Collection by Ambassador, 7822 South 46th St., Phoenix, Ariz. 85044 (from Susan Riemer of La Jolla and I. Samuel of Los Angeles).

Sara Sartain of Sun Valley, who was looking for a heavy-duty ironing board, may be in luck. Neoma Norman of South Gate found one at the All-American Home Center on Firestone Boulevard in Downey; the price was almost $30. We also heard from five readers who are really hot about wanting to get rid of their heavy-duty ironing boards. Send a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

Erika Spangler of Redondo Beach, who was hunting for old-fashioned flypaper, should soon be flying high. Two stores near her that carry the product are the Sav-on on Hawthorne and Redondo Beach boulevards (from K. Felderman of Torrance) and the Sav-on on Anza Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway in Torrance (from Susan W. of Redondo Beach). Stores a few miles flying distance away include Fredson’s RV Supplies, Harbor and Hazel avenues, Santa Ana (from Elsie Whipple of Westminster); Sunset Nursery, Sunset and Santa Monica boulevards, Los Angeles (from Harold Dittmer of Los Angeles); Kal Market, 6th Street and Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles (from Alvin Hall of Los Angeles), and McVey’s Hardware, Temple City (from Theresa Hernandez of Arcadia).
