Social Security and Sharing Sacrifice

Well, here is a tidbit that missed his piece. Not only is there a cost-of-living adjustment each year, there is also a raise in Medicare rates that is taken out of the Social Security check. In addition, one elderly person, receiving $449 a month, pays about half of that amount for rent, then pays utilities, and finally purchases a bit of food. It is not “abject” poverty, just poverty. True the government giveth, but the government also taketh away.

Now Mr. Conine wants the elderly to meekly accept no adjustment in January. This will not stop the government from raising the Medicare rates, however.
