An AIDS-stricken jail inmate in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has been charged with attempted murder after officials said he attacked a sheriff’s deputy by biting him on the finger. Kelly Dobbins, 26, of San Francisco bit the finger of Deputy Harold Bennett deeply enough to draw blood during the incident at the Broward County Jail, deputies said. The alleged attack occurred when the deputy tried to take Dobbins to a court appearance. Officials said the deputy will have to undergo a series of AIDS tests every six months for the next five years.
