Countywide : Earthquake Drills to Be Held Over 3 Days

Share

The skills of fire, emergency and medical officials throughout the county will be tested during three mock-earthquake drills on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the scenario, an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale will cause a building to collapse at each drill site, killing 30 people and injuring others. The drills will be held as part of the annual Mass Casualty Exercises in which police and fire agencies, county emergency service employees and volunteers act out a disaster situation. The county’s hospitals will also participate.

The first drill site will be Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea. The second drill, for central Orange County, will be held at the Net 6 Joint Powers training center at the Huntington Beach Fire Department. A manufacturing warehouse at 19000 Jamboree Blvd., Irvine, will be the site of the Thursday drill for the south county. All drills begin at 9:30 a.m.
