Ten Sepulveda residents were left homeless Sunday after children playing with matches touched off an apartment blaze, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.

No one was injured in the 3:15 p.m. fire in the 8800 block of Memory Park Avenue, said spokesman Jim Williamson.

The fire gutted a three-bedroom apartment on the building’s second floor, causing an estimated $40,000 in damage to the building and a $15,000 loss to contents. One apartment below the burned unit suffered water damage, the spokesman said.
