Utility Fined for Flaw in Security at Reactor

ATLANTA —
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has fined Georgia Power Co. $50,000 for failures in a computer that controls security alarms at a nuclear power generating plant, officials said Thursday.
The problem was found during inspection earlier this year at Plant Hatch, near Baxley. David Altman of Georgia Power said that the utility would pay the fine.
