Nominations of Navy, AF Chiefs Go to Senate

WASHINGTON — President Reagan asked the Senate on Thursday to confirm his choice of Gen. Larry D. Welch to head the Air Force. Welch now commands the Strategic Air Command.
In addition, Reagan asked the Senate to confirm Adm. Carlisle Trost as head of the Navy. The nomination of Trost, who directs the Atlantic Fleet, had been disclosed by Pentagon sources Wednesday.
