Prono Fires a 3-Under-Par 70 to Tie for Day’s Best Round at NCAA Golf

Northridge’s Flori Prono of USC tied Page Dunlap of Florida for the best round of the day, shooting a 3-under-par 70 Thursday in the 5th NCAA women’s golf championship at Ohio State University’s Scarlet course.

Prono is tied for fifth place with six other golfers after two days of competition. In team play, Florida and first-round leader Miami of Florida stood at 6-over-par 590 after two rounds on the 6,100-yard layout.

Thanks in part to Prono’s performance, USC vaulted from sixth place to third with the day’s best round, a 1-under-par 291. The Trojans have a 596 total midway through the 72-hole event.

Florida, No. 1 in the NCAA’s computer rankings, compiled a 1-over-par 293 total Thursday. Miami, which won the 1984 crown, had a 296 total for the day.
