Television actor Jan-Michael Vincent was sentenced Friday to 30 days in jail for violating probation on a previous drunk-driving conviction by driving a car less than six hours after consuming alcohol.

Malibu Municipal Court Commissioner Richard Brand handed down the sentence against the 41-year-old star of the CBS television series “Airwolf,” but agreed to delay the start of the term until June 25 so Vincent can select the city jail in which he would like to serve his time, prosecutors said.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Bert Schneirow said Vincent, who faces trial next Friday in an unrelated matter on a felony battery charge, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Ventura County on May 15.

Brand said the incident was in violation of the actor’s December, 1983, conviction on two counts of drunk driving.

Vincent faces trial in Santa Monica Superior Court on one count of felony battery for allegedly punching a 34-year-old woman in the face at his Malibu home last September. He remains free on $1,500 bail and also faces a future hearing on two other counts of violating probation.
