Julian
More than 60 searchers found an 87-year-old Julian man uninjured Sunday morning after the man, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, spent the night lost in rough terrain near his ranch, authorities said.
Franklin Lockwood Barnes was discovered in brush near his 160-acre ranch at 7:48 a.m. Sunday, said Sgt. Cody Isabel of the county sheriff’s office. Barnes was suffering from heat exhaustion but was otherwise unharmed, Isabel said.
The search began when the man’s daughter-in-law, Jane Barnes, informed sheriff’s officers Saturday that the man had not returned from his evening walk, according to the sheriff’s office. A search party, composed of sheriff’s deputies, a sheriff’s helicopter, members of the U.S. Border Patrol and volunteers, found Barnes.
