A gun-toting bandit was shot and killed in Alhambra by police moments after officers spotted the man fleeing the scene of a robbery, authorities said. Officer Mark Shaffer shot Mark Ho, 28, of Buena Park in an alley between West 2nd and 3rd streets, Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Adams said. Ho died at County-USC Medical Center. Adams said another Alhambra officer tackled Ho after spotting him running while holding a gun and a bag stuffed with cash. Shaffer saw the two men struggling and ran to help. “He was then forced to fire his gun and struck Ho in the head,” Adams said. Authorities believe Ho robbed Thomas Cheung, 24, at gunpoint inside Cheung’s home in the 1200 block of West 3rd St. Cheung told police that upon returning home from his family owned restaurant, he was met by a hooded gunman who followed him inside and took $4,000 in cash. A family member called police. Investigators recovered a .38-caliber revolver and the money.
