The Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League selected five players in the college draft, held at Cleveland.
In the first round, the Lazers selected defender Jim Kavanaugh, a 24-year-old graduate of St. Louis University who had 11 goals and 28 assists in his four-year career there.
The Lazers also selected Jeff Hooker, a forward from El Camino College; Warren Lipka, a goal keeper from the University of South Carolina; Jonathon Lines, a defender from Plymouth State University; and Louie Cuevas, a midfielder from Westmont College.
