The U.S. and Japan will resume computer talks.

After two days of talks in Tokyo, the two countries decided to continue the talks in Washington beginning today, an official of Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry said. The United States and Japan have been negotiating over the semiconductor issue since last August. The United States claims that Japan sells computer chips for less than their market value and is harming the U.S. industry. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to disclose the contents of the talks, which were arranged to settle details of an agreement reached between U.S. Trade Representative Clayton K. Yeutter and MITI Minister Michio Watanabe in Tokyo last week.
