Costa Mesa : Seminar to Give Women Tips on Avoiding Attack

Share

Taking precautions is the best form of self-defense against assault, burglary and other crime, according to Costa Mesa Medical Center Hospital and police officials, who will present a women’s safety seminar June 21.

“It’s better to use your brain to avoid certain situations rather than physical force,” said Clay Epperson, Costa Mesa police community relations officer. He will discuss home security and avoiding high-risk situations.

Mary Cecrle, director of Sexual Assault Victim Services of Santa Ana, will focus on reducing the risk of rape and making an emotional recovery after an attack. Her lecture also will include information on profiles of sexual offenders, avoiding repeated patterns of victimization and rape trauma syndrome.
