All Wrapped Up in Search for Cotton Tape

For her volunteer work at the Whittier Historical Museum, Lyn Yeomans needs cotton twill tape ; she claims that poly fabric is available but it won’t do the job. Can you help, or will Yeomans go down in history as another native who became unraveled over a few feet of tape?

For a husband with sensitive skin, Mrs. S. M. Van Heusen of San Clemente is looking for white pima cotton shirts by R & O Hawick, Size 17 1/2 with short sleeves. She was able to buy these R & O shirts on Long Island but can’t find a source out here. Can you roll up your sleeves and help before Van Heusen has to tell her husband to “go East, old man,” or will she be convinced that nobody out here cottons to these shirts?

Reader-to-Reader Help Line: Ed at (805) 643-4069 has been making the rounds in an attempt to locate round-headed solid-brass nuts that are unslotted, about 2 inches long and hold old-fashioned glass cupboard nuts in place. So that Ed won’t have to go back to square one, please come up with a few nuts; otherwise Ed may end up that way. . . . For her small son, Margaret at (818) 846-0403 would like to locate a Mattel action figure called Faker, part of the Masters of the Universe series; Mattel says this character has been discontinued, and Margaret’s son can’t understand why Santa Claus didn’t make him one for Christmas. If you happen to come up with only one of these characters, it will at the same time save a boy’s faith and a mother’s face.

Angelita Wadsworth of Orange is looking for shelf brackets for floor-to-ceiling tension poles ; these brackets are squared and grooved and enable you to set up shelves without having to screw the brackets into a wall. Can you help by putting Angelita back into the groove, or will the tension in her home always keep the shelves poles apart?

Hazel Wagner of Los Angeles says she bought some for $2.17 a pair in the socks section at K-mart at 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles; they were called Moon-Boots and came in various colors in Sizes 5 to 10. And Lucy Montoya of the City of Commerce bought some at her local K-mart.
