Santa Ana : Man Dies of Injuries After Car Accident
A 23-year-old Anaheim man, injured Friday in an accident on Santiago Canyon Road, died Saturday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman said that Christopher Phillips was a passenger in a car that went off the road at a high rate of speed and overturned. Both Phillips and the driver, Patrick Kennedy, 22, of Orange, were thrown from the car and taken by helicopter to the hospital. Kennedy was in stable condition Saturday.
According to the CHP spokesman, the car was northbound on Santiago Canyon Road, traveling at about 70 m.p.h., when it entered a curve south of Hicks Canyon Road. The car crossed into the wrong lane, over-corrected and became airborne as it went over the eastern embankment, the spokesman said.
