Sweetland, Harden Finish First in Baja Race

ENSENADA —
Garth Sweetland of Phoenix and Scot Harden of Escondido were the first finishers Saturday in the SCORE Baja International off-road race.
Sweetland, 20, and Harden, 29, driving a 400cc Husqvarna motorcycle, finished the 492-mile event over rough desert and mountain terrain in 8 hours 27 minutes 57 seconds. Their average speed was 58.115 m.p.h.
The first four-wheel vehicle to finish was a Chenowth Porsche driven by Korky and Scott McMillin of Bonita. The McMillins were timed in 8:53.58, averaging 55.28 m.p.h.
