The Region : UCLA Will Aid Disabled
UCLA Chancellor Charles E. Young pledged to set up a special task force to consider the needs of the school’s disabled students--and to free the Westwood campus of physical “barriers” that make it difficult for the handicapped to get about. Young met with representatives of the California Assn. for the Handicapped after a demonstration outside Murphy Hall against university policies said to discriminate against the disabled. Association spokesman Bill Bolte called Young’s agreement a “significant victory” for disabled students, many of whom he said had left the school because of difficult access to campus facilities.
