LOS ANGELES ARTS ORGANIZATIONS GET $85,600 IN MATCHING GRANTS

Nineteen Los Angeles County resident arts organizations have been awarded a total of $85,600 in matching grants through the National/State/County Partnership. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the grants, ranging from $1,500 to $7,500.

The National/State/County Partnership, administered by the L.A. County Music and Performing Arts Commission, is a challenge-grant program created to help support emerging, experimental and other county resident arts organizations. Funds for the Partnership have been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, California Arts Council and the County Board of Supervisors.

The following organizations received grants:

Astro Artz/High Performance ($7,500); Beyond Baroque ($5,000); Black Accent of L.A./”For Members Only” TV ($4,000); Early Music Ensemble of Los Angeles ($4,000); Gay & Lesbian Media Coalition ($4,000); Heritage & Tradition (AVAZ) ($5,000); INCA Peruvian Music & Dance Ensemble ($3,500); Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies ($7,500); Lula Washington Contemporary Dance Foundation ($3,000); Meet the Composer/California ($4,000); Padua Hills Playwrights’ Workshop Festival ($6,000); Public Corporation for the Arts ($6,400); Quantum Arts Network ($4,500); Rudy Perez Performance Ensemble ($4,200); San Fernando Valley Arts Council ($2,000); Santa Monica Arts Foundation ($4,000); Temblor: Contemporary Poets ($2,000); Terri Lewis Dance Ensemble ($1,500); Visual Communications (Southern California Asian-American Studies Central Inc.) ($7,500).
