Deukmejian and Rose Bird

Gov. Deukmejian attempts to better his own political standing by accusing Bird of not following the public will. Now, it seems to me that George (“Buy My Influence”) Deukmejian is a fine one to be making such accusations. Where was his thought of the public will in his rulings on the disposal of toxic wastes? It was nowhere to be found.

His decisions seem to be based on the marginal effect on the size of his campaign budget, whereas Bird’s are based upon her conscience. There is no question in my mind as to which is a better basis for decision. And I believe that most Californians, if they were to think about it, would come to the same conclusion that I have. Reinstate Rose Bird, and elect Tom Bradley governor.
