7,500 Strike at Lumber Mills

PORTLAND, Ore. —
About 7,500 union woodworkers struck 20 Weyerhaeuser Co. mills and logging operations throughout the Pacific Northwest today rather than accept a new contract that called for a wage and benefit reduction of $4.30 an hour.
