Varian Associates Inc., Palo Alto, said Jerome J. Meyer, president and chief operating officer, resigned as an officer and director, effective immediately. The company said the departure is an amicable one made by mutual agreement.
Thomas D. Sege, chairman and chief executive, will assume the president’s title and chief operating responsibilities for the electronics firm.
