AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: Rock groups can’t seem to wave the flag enough these days--the upcoming Beach Boys album (due out next week) is titled “Made in U.S.A.” . . . Sky Saxon (of the Seeds) is back later this month with a new album, “Destiny’s Children,” recorded with Fire Wall. Due out on PVC Records, it features a host of guest performances by such local scene-stars as the Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn, Peter Case, Redd Kross’ Roy McDonald, the Unclaimed’s Shelley Ganz, Thee Fourgiven’s Rich Coffee and the Droogs’ RicAlbin and David Provost. (The record also features a pair of musicians who sound suspiciously like Debbi and Vicki Peterson, though they’re not officially credited on the record due to contractual difficulties). . . . And roots-oriented Rounder Records has just released a pair of new albums from its Modern New Orleans Master Series, which has included such stellar records as James Booker’s “Classified” and Irma Thomas’ “The New Rules.” The new offerings are “After Dark” by Johnny Adams and “Live Mardi Gras in Montreaux” by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
