Bravo to Calendar for spotlighting Los Angeles’ Equity Waiver theater (“L.A. Musicals: Doin’ the Waiver,” by Don Shirley, June 1).

However, “Tomfoolery” producer director Ivan Spiegel told Shirley that he split 10% of the box-office take with the cast. The fact is, we received no money from the show.

Naturally, we’d all like to get paid for performing, but like most Waiver actors, our primary goal is not the money, but the opportunity to hone our skills and be seen--at the Burbage Theater, Thursday-Sunday nights.
