DENVER —
Police used tear gas to disperse about 700 people during a melee at the Juneteenth Celebration that left 20 people injured, officials said Saturday. Three people were arrested for disturbing the peace.
Twelve officers and a police dog were among those hurt Friday night after being struck by rocks and bottles, Sgt. Ed Connors said. The Juneteenth festival celebrates the day Texas slaves were told of their freedom in 1865.
