Janice Hart, a follower of political extremist Lyndon LaRouche Jr. and Democratic candidate for Illinois secretary of state, was arrested today for failing to appear at a court hearing May 27.

Cook County Circuit Judge Morris Topol issued the arrest warrant when Hart failed to appear before him last month on a disorderly conduct charge. Hart was arrested when she arrived at the courthouse today for a new court hearing.

The disorderly conduct charge was filed against her after she allegedly disrupted a meeting at a north suburban synagogue last year. Prosecutors contend that Hart shoved a piece of raw liver at Archbishop Rembert Weakland of Milwaukee.

Hart, 31, recently returned to the Chicago area after spending several weeks campaigning in West Germany for a political party aligned with LaRouche.
