Share

EECO Inc., a Santa Ana-based developer and manufacturer of electronic components and computer systems, has been awarded a $1.3-million contract to customize the design of its patented EECODER Still-Frame Audio System for use by Cableshare Inc. of Ontario, Canada. Cableshare plans to use the system in a computerized home shopping system.

The EECODER system can put 10 seconds of audio information onto a single laser disc video frame, which normally lasts one-thirtieth of a second, said John M. Ludutsky, vice president of EECO’s video division. It expands the maximum amount of audio that can be stored on a laser disc to 150 hours from a previous 30-minute maximum.
