‘Fanatics’ on Supreme Court

The subject of abortion and a woman’s freedom of choice brings out all the pompous self-righteousness a George Will can muster!

Is this the same George Will who, cloaked in an American flag, raves about the fairness of Americans’ rights to hear all sides of an issue? Yet, suddenly, when the subject is a woman’s right to choose or not choose an abortion, this same George Will unswervingly supports the right of the state to pressure, to delay and to pitch a totally one-sided viewpoint about the self-righteous “perils of abortion.”

Why isn’t Will railing against the state for leaving out little details such as the high percentages of women’s lives ruined by teen-age births, and of the major fraction of the record 500,000 prison inmates who grew up as unwanted, uncared for, unloved children? Why isn’t Will pushing for sex education in Pennsylvania grade schools and high schools to minimize the likelihood of the need for Pennsylvania abortions? Why isn’t Will working to get America’s mortality rate for newborn infants (reduced) into the top five in the world, or getting federal, state, and local governments to spend decent amounts on children’s day care, education and school lunches?
