Mall Deaths: ‘Ms. Rambo’ Guilty
A 25-year-old woman known as “Ms. Rambo” was convicted of first-degree murder today but jurors ruled she was mentally ill when she killed three people in a shopping mall shooting rampage last year.
Sylvia Seegrist’s lawyers had contended that she was mentally ill but the prosecution had claimed she was sane at the time of the Oct. 30 shootings. The verdict of guilty but mentally ill means Seegrist will serve her life sentence in an institution where she will receive treatment. If she is at some point determined to be well, she will be forced to serve the remainder of her sentence in prison.
