Federal investigators say “misinterpretation” of weather conditions by the crew was partly responsible for the crash of Delta Flight 191 that killed 137 people at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport last Aug. 2, the Dallas Times Herald reported. A staff report given to the National Transportation Safety Board cited as “contributing factors” the crew’s failure to abort the landing earlier and inadequate staffing procedures at weather facilities serving th e airport, the newspaper said. The L-1011 jet met violent wind shifts across its landing path and slammed to the ground about a mile short of the runway.
