A 45-year-old man who told police he was an epileptic died in a downtown Los Angeles Police Department jail just hours after he was arrested in Hollywood on a misdemeanor battery warrant, officials said. Police said the man, whose name was not released, had been examined by a jail doctor before being placed in a cell at Parker Center with more than 30 other inmates. The man began to moan and roll over in his cell and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, police said. An autopsy will be performed.
