Heavy rains in north central Louisiana covered roads with water and forced evacuation of at least two families as the remnants of Hurricane Bonnie continued to cover the state. In the northwestern area, where the hurricane flooded more than 300 homes in the Shreveport area, mop-up efforts and damage assessments continued. Intermittent rainfall kept many homes flooded. The largely rural north central part of the state saw three to five inches of rain in 15 hours ending Sunday morning. More rain was expected and the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for Natchitoches, Winn and Jackson parishes.
