State-run television came back on the air Sunday after a seven-hour wildcat strike by employees over an alleged police beating of their colleagues.

The strike started after workers said a TV producer and an engineer were beaten by police when they refused to show identity cards.

Thousands of people who gathered outside the TV station during the strike left in relief when the transmission was restored. They had feared that they might miss Sunday’s World Cup soccer final from Mexico.
