Nickolas Siokos, assistant superintendent of personnel services in the Placentia Unified School District, became acting superintendent Tuesday.
The school board is seeking a permanent replacement for Supt. Keith Larick, who will become superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District.
The board has said that finding a new superintendent may take up to six months.
Siokos has been with the school district since 1971. He has served as principal of Morse and Glenknoll elementary schools and director of business services. Before coming to Placentia, Siokos was a teacher and principal in the Lynwood Unified School District. He also served seven years as a city councilman in Lynwood, with two terms as mayor.
Siokos, 60, is a native of Los Angeles and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from USC. He and his wife Angela and their four daughters live in Yorba Linda.
