President Signs Spending Bill

WASHINGTON — President Reagan signed a $1.7-billion catchall spending bill today, saying it provides urgently needed funds for federal agencies and to enhance security at U.S. embassies.
The measure, including money to keep several government agencies and programs running for the next three months, was approved by Congress late last month. “The act provides urgently needed funds for the Commodity Credit Corporation, the Internal Revenue Service, federal courts, disaster relief, and a number of other domestic programs, and for the enhancement of embassy security, as well as assistance for the Philippines and Ireland,” the President said.
