The investor group said it made a bid of more than $250 million to buy five Spanish-language television stations, including KMEX of Los Angeles. The owner, Spanish International Communications Corp., put the stations up for sale following a challenge by the Federal Communications Commission, which contends that the stations are secretly controlled by foreign interests. The group is led by Los Angeles surgeon Tirso del Junco, former chairman of the California Republican Party.
