DID ROBIN LAY AN EGG?

Share

Robin Williams seems to be everywhere these days--except promoting “Club Paradise,” his new Warner Bros. flick opening Friday.

The actor graces the current cover of Newsweek--but doesn’t discuss the movie (writer David Ansen barely mentions the pic, saying Williams is “delightful but hampered by a spotty script and gaping holes in his character’s motivation”). Williams did do a round-table press-day junket with out-of-town newspaper writers, but spurned interview requests from some local media and USA Today. “60 Minutes” recently shot a segment on Williams (to air this fall), but he was again strangely silent on “Club Paradise.” Interview mag tells us he mentions the movie in its August issue, but “not extensively.”

A PR spokesman for ex-Mork conceded, “Robin definitely thinks he’s overexposed.”

Then he added testily: “If Robin wants to talk to the L.A. Times about ‘Club Paradise,’ we’ll call you.”
