Laguna Beach : New General Manager of Water District Named
Joe Sovella, district engineer for the Laguna Beach County Water District for the last eight years, has been named general manager of the district.
A resident of South Laguna, Sovella will be in charge of a district that serves more than 7,700 households in Laguna Beach and neighboring areas.
He has been in charge of the water district’s engineering and water operations since 1978.
Sovella, who graduated in 1971 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, worked as an engineer for San Diego County and the City of San Bernardino before joining the Laguna Beach water district. From 1972 to 1977 he worked in Iran as a consulting engineer.
He replaces Joseph R. Sweany, who retired.
