Los Angeles police have begun a routine investigation into the death of Alfred Faria, 56, who was shot by officers as he allegedly reached behind him for a gun tucked in his pants. Police had been called to Faria’s Las Palmas Avenue apartment after neighbors reported that he was threatening a passer-by with a gun. Officer Mitchell Cain fired six shots and Officer Gene Hubenthal fired four shots, police said. Faria died at the scene.
