Simi Freeway

Joel Dinsfriend is grossly misinformed. In his recent letter to the editor he argues that Simi Valley should have tried to find a way to reach a compromise with Sylvester Stallone’s production company on the freeway closing. The fact of the matter is that Simi Valley residents did just that. They offered alternatives such as closing the freeway during non-rush hours or on weekends. It was Stallone’s production company that rejected those proposals, the obvious indication being that “Rambo” wanted it his way or no way at all.

I also find it particularly noteworthy that Mr. Dinsfriend does not live in either Simi Valley or Moorpark, the two towns that would be most affected by Stallone’s request. As a Canoga Park resident, he was in little danger of being disproportionately inconvenienced by the freeway closure. The same could not be said for some 18,000 local residents.
