Carson : $24.7-Million Budget OKd
The council unanimously passed a $24.7-million budget for 1986-87, changing the proposed budget to accommodate $614,405 in employee pay increases.
The rest of the council changes amounted to minor tinkering:
Added to the proposed budget was $50,000 for an economic development study; $50,000 for a city personnel study; $23,818 for the 1987 Fourth of July celebrations; $12,990 to support the city’s sound wall committee; $12,811 for a Neighborhood Watch expo; $3,600 as the city’s contribution to the Long Beach Fair Housing Foundation, which attempts to mediate landlord-renter disputes for the city, and $1,320 in support of a hot line for crime tips. The council reduced the fine arts budget by by $72,686.
