North Tustin : Board Cuts Advisory Council From 9 to 7
The Board of Supervisors has reduced the number of seats on the North Tustin Municipal Advisory Council from nine to seven.
The action Tuesday came at the request of the council, which sought the change in order to become a more manageable governing body.
After the recent resignation of two representatives, advisory council chairwoman Patricia Seman said, the council discovered that it was operating more efficiently with the smaller number.
Seman said the board’s action means that only three seats on the council will be on the Nov. 4 ballot. The remaining four posts will be up for reelection in 1988.
Municipal advisory councils serve in lieu of a city government in unincorporated areas, advising the Board of Supervisors on issues of importance to area residents. Council members serve four-year terms.
Members of the North Tustin council who resigned were Stephen Johnson, who was moving out of the area, and Christine Treiber, who resigned to devote more time to her family, Seman said.
