QUOTE OF THE WEEK: With both David Lee Roth and Van Halen out hyping their new albums, it was inevitable that the two warring parties would mix it up in the media. Of course, conducting a feud with Roth is like getting into a spitting match with a playful grizzly bear--it’s a pretty one-sided skirmish, and so far, Roth (one of rock’s sassiest mouthpieces) is far ahead on points, if not on the verge of a knockout. Asked for his thoughts on the new Van Halen album in the new issue of the Music Connection, Roth slyly responded: “It’s really hard for me to judge because half of that music was supposed to be the sound track to a film called ‘The Wild Life’ some two years ago.” Saying he was still in Van Halen when most of the songs were written, Roth added: “I can tell you where we stole the melodies from. Go listen to Side 2 and tell me which one was stolen from ‘Down By the River.’ And on and on. But everybody’s guilty of that!”
