His Home’s Comforts Beat Plush Theaters

I read Ruth Ryon’s “Theater Firms Think Big to Bring Back ‘Lost’ Patrons” (June 29) with mixed emotions. I am afraid that spending megabucks on bigger, more elaborate and expensive theaters is going to be just like the comment in the article in reference to videocassette recorders: that interest in them dies after about a year.

I am very happy with my VCRs, compact disks and premium cable channels. Show me a theater where you can sit in a very “comfy” chair in your shorts, stop the movie when you have to go to the restroom or drink one or two beers, and maybe I will change my mind.
