The attorney for Olden Polynice, University of Virginia basketball center, said he wants to know why university officials scrapped a counseling plan for their MVP and revoked his scholarship.
“They told him he would have the summer and fall semesters to get his act together,” said Charlottesville attorney John Lowe, who helped Polynice plead no contest last Thursday to a charge of shoplifting a $17 set of stereo headphones.
Dick Shultz, Virginia athletic director, said Sunday that Polynice’s scholarship will not be renewed despite recent announcements he would be suspended for just one semester and given counseling.
