A Los Angeles woman who was dragged along Wilshire Boulevard and suffered a permanent leg injury after her arm was caught in a bus’ rear door got $1.75 million in an out-of-court settlement Tuesday with the Southern California Rapid Transit District.

It is one of the largest settlements against the agency, officials said. Barbara Lew, 68, and her husband, Albert, 71, received a $1 million initial payment, with the remainder of the money to be paid over the next 10 years.
