Misconceptions

Share

In reference to an article written by G.H. Jansen (Opinion, July 6), “Trouble Is Inherent for Religious States,” I would like to correct some of his misunderstandings and give your readers facts instead of misconceptions.

Jansen made no distinction between the Islamic rules and native social and political cultures. For example, he stated that “women are backward creatures--also sources of sin.” I have read the QUR’AN several times in the Arabic language, and I have found no statement degrading women. On the contrary women, and specifically mothers, have a very high status.

Another misinterpretation was regarding “the segregation of the sexes in mosques and synagogues.” As you know, women are strong, delicate, and sexy, and it would be very difficult for a Muslim man to get down on his knees to say his prayer facing nice well-rounded sexy buns!

Jansen made his statements based on poor observations, not a true practicing experience.
