All it takes is one complimentary interview of a bona-fide TV legend like Carson to prompt a deluge of sarcastic letters from jealous, attention-starved nobodies (Calendar Letters, July 13).

Let’s see: two letters from disappointed readers who expected a National Enquirer-type mudslinging, a letter from a publicist trying to get his client’s name in the paper, a vicious diatribe from some jerk who propositions Johnny’s girlfriend and a motley collection of moronic “comments,” including one fellow who believes Carson will only be perfect when he gets a dog.

And they wonder why celebrities like their privacy.
