The Tipster remains unknown, but he or she is $5,000 richer.

In the biggest reward ever given by a county citizens’ group, Anaheim Citizens Against Violent Crime said the anonymous tipster would get $5,000 for information that led to convictions in the 1983 deaths of the Bee Lady and her daughter.

The so-called Bee Lady was Elizabeth Kate Schafer, who at 96 still raised bees. She and her daughter, Alice Schafer, 69, died of asphyxiation after robbers left them bound and gagged. Three men were arrested, based on a tip given police, and all three were successfully prosecuted earlier this year.
